1 Little Pier Street (Level 1–2, Darling Exchange Building), Haymarket NSW 2000
About this activity
What if your child could use code to make actual, printable art — and take it home at the end? That's the idea behind Creative Coding: Code & Create, a free school holiday workshop at the Darling Square Library Makerspace where kids aged 8–12 discover that coding is as much a creative tool as it is a technical one.
Led by Jared Berghold — a creative coder with over 15 years of experience who has collaborated with artists, galleries and designers around the world — each session is beginner-friendly, hands-on, and genuinely surprising. No prior coding knowledge is needed at all. By the end, every child leaves with a one-of-a-kind piece of computer-generated artwork they created themselves.
Families can look forward to:
- Free beginner-friendly coding workshop with zero experience required
- Learn the fundamentals of creative coding in a fun, accessible way
- Use code to generate unique printable artwork — take it home at the end
- Led by Jared Berghold, an internationally experienced creative coder
- Small group format inside the Darling Square Library Makerspace
- Parents and guardians must remain within the library during the session
- Check the event page for available session dates and times
