About this activity
Imagine a school holiday workshop where you walk in as a curious kid and walk out having built a robot, launched something down a wind tube and lit up an LED circuit — all in two hours and completely free. That's exactly what Maker and Creator delivers at the Darling Square Library makerspace, right in the heart of Sydney.
Running throughout the April school holidays, these sessions are designed for kids aged 8–12 who love making things and want to get their hands on technology that usually lives behind glass. The makerspace is packed with the kind of equipment that makes jaws drop, and every session is different — so if you come back twice, you'll try something new both times.
Families can look forward to:
- Free two-hour hands-on sessions in a fully equipped library makerspace
- Robot battles using Edison bots and programmable Sphero and Ozobot challenges
- Wind tube experiments — watch your creations take flight
- LED circuits built with conductive tape — light things up from scratch
- Different activities each session so every visit is a fresh adventure
- Parents and guardians must stay within the library during the session
- Located inside Darling Exchange Building, Haymarket — easy to reach by train
